KILN CARVING WITH FIBER OR CASTALOT
Make glass pieces with dimension! During the first part of this class you can make plates or coasters out of fused glass, learning to "carve" a texture or design into the glass using the principles of slumping over fiber material.
During the second part of the class, Barb Kisch will teach you how to use a product called Castalot, used to make your own molds and shapes. (See the bug below, made from one of Barb's castalot molds.) She will have some Castalot slabs ready for you to carve your own design. The mold you make can be used over and over again.
Date: Tuesday, June 29th
Time: 6:30 - 9:00 pm
Instructors: Karen Highness & Barb Kisch
Cost: $30 class fee + firing fees + glass that you select. Small charge for fiber paper and Castalot mold mix, depending on what you choose to make.
Note that after you have taken a glass class, you are welcome to work in our Studio anytime designing more glass projects, at just the regular Studio rates of $6 per hour (plus any glass you purchase and a per piece firing fee).
